We first created match strikers for our own homes, but then guests started commenting how much they loved them. We realized that these would make the perfect gift to bring to someone’s home as a hostess gift.
Most people need matches handy, and these keep matches out in a beautiful way. The stickers can be found in different sizes and shapes depending on your vessel. We had white tipped matches on hand, but you can find matches in a rainbow of colors!
When we’re out antiquing, we look for toothpick holders and small glasses that we can turn into match strikers. You can also find these on Etsy or Facebook Marketplace if you want to search online. Think outside the box, too! We’ve seen people get very creative with what they can turn into match strikers.

How to Make the Perfect Hostess Gift

Step 1
Clean your vintage toothpick holder or small glass. Find the right size sticker for your vessel. We used the 1 inch circle match striker stickers, but you may want a different shape or size depending on yours. Place the striker sticker on the bottom.
Step 2
Add your matches. For the toothpick holders, we used 2 inch matches, and for the larger glass, we used 4 inch matches.
Step 3
Place in a clear gift bag. Tie with matching ribbons and trim the ends.
