Nothing quenches your thirst quite like lemonade on a hot day, but we wanted to elevate the everyday lemonade with fresh mint and floral elderflower. Making fresh lemonade is surprisingly easy thanks to an electric juicer, and it’s so worth it to have fresh lemon juice. Instead of mixing in plain simple syrup or sugar like most recipes call for, we’re mixing in elderflower syrup and homemade mint simple syrup.
You already know how easy it is to make flavored simple syrups at home from our Watermelon Basil Slush and How to Set Up a Drink Station posts. If you’ve never had elderflower syrup before, it has a lightly sweet taste with floral and honey notes. It’s one of our favorite flavors – if we see it on a drink menu, we’re ordering it!

ingredients
1 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed from 5-6 lemons
1 lime, juiced
3/4 cup elderflower syrup
1/4 cup mint simple syrup, recipe below
6 cups cold water
1 lemon, thinly sliced for garnish
fresh mint, for garnish

method
Step 1
Make mint simple syrup by combining 1 cup of water with 1 cup of sugar in a small sauce pan. Gently heat over medium-low heat until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and add a handful of fresh mint. Allow to cool. Once cooled, strain mint from syrup and store in an air-tight container. Simple syrup can be stored in the fridge for up to one month.

Step 2
Juice lemons and remove the pulp using a mesh strainer. We recommend using an electric juicer.

Step 3
Combine 1 cup lemon juice, lime juice, 3/4 cup elderflower syrup, and 1/4 cup of mint simple syrup in a large pitcher. Add 6 cups of cold water. Stir to combine.
